Prebiotics and Probiotics in Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD)

In 2014, a team of scientists sought to identify whether the use of probiotics and prebiotics in treatment of IBD patients have a clinical benefit. The study contends that clinical studies to this point have not realized this promise. They further proceed to infer that there is no substantial evidence to qualify the use of probiotics and prebiotics in treatment. While Prebiotics may improve quality of life it is not likely to influence more traditional clinical end points.
