How IBD patients cope with IBD: A systematic review

Inflammatory bowel disease has seen to have a significant impact on the mental health and overall quality of life in patients, indicative of the severity of the symptoms the patient experiences. A large study combined the results of all available articles about coping strategies used by IBD patients, and found the most common theme was that emotion-focused coping was linked to worse psychological outcomes. Problem focused coping method was less often associated with better psychological outcomes, but due to the variance in research the results remain inconsistent.
