Exercise in Individuals With Inflammatory Bowel Disease
Nathan, Indira PhD, Norton, Christine PhD, Czuber-Dochan
The benefit of exercise on individuals with IBD has seen increasing evidence to suggest the improvement of symptoms associated with the disease, when moderate exercise is incorporated in one’s lifestyle. Recent findings have further linked the positive effect exercise has on mood, fatigue, weight maintenance and bone density in these patients. A potential area for caution involving overextension was reported, but with advice from a healthcare professional, light exercise is to be considered safe and overall beneficial.
