The challenging circumstances for children diagnosed with IBD naturally lead to higher levels of depressions and anxiety. A study conducted on this topic sought to understand the correlation between higher levels of depression, lower zinc levels and its effect on the long-term health of patients. The studies findings displayed a moderate correlation between depression and higher zinc levels. This being said, the authors of the study concluded that more research needed to be conducted on a larger segment of the population.
