Exercise and Inflammatory Bowel Disease

The role of exercise in sufferers of inflammatory bowel disease has seen movement towards the alleviation of symptoms; involving the reduction of stress, the improvement of mental health and increased bone density. However, some individuals living with IBD have certain limitations towards the amount of strenuous activity performed. While there is no known cure for ulcerative colitis or IBD, exercise is speculated to have positive effects against the onset of IBD (but with limited literature, further research is required).
